It is written

He knew the word by study. It wasn’t because He had instructed the writers by His SPIRIT. Rather as with all things that involved humanity, the Messiah had known through study. He had learnt how to walk and talk. He didn’t leap out of Mary’s womb screaming words of Rhema and Repentance. He didn’t grab Joseph’s beard and yell “Were you there when I carved the earth’s foundations?”

Jesus learnt and applied. I imagine he had the same kind of childhood as Timothy who from a child studied the scriptures. And thus the very words that prophesied about Him became the foundation of his life. We see evidence of this when we look at the baptism. John was reluctant to baptise the Christ, but Jesus who had studied scripture knew that it was part of God’s plan: The old would give way to the new. Outward baptism would give way to Inward baptism.

I wonder if this above all things was what give the Father such confidence in declaring through the balcony of the heavens – THIS IS MY BELOVED SON IN WHOM I AM WELL-PLEASED.

===================================

It was against the backdrop of this testimony that the devil comes a-tempting. That grand old accuser of men comes attempting to persuade the Lord from carrying on with his mission. He starts his plot with the opening lines from his playbook. If you are the son of God…

I imagine him hissing his lines out, obviously omitting the word “beloved” intentionally as he tries to blind Jesus to the reality of his acceptance. This for me is the temptation. This is the crux of Satan’s machinations. All he seeks to do is make God appear a liar even for a minute.

But we have a glorious heritage = THE WORD OF GOD WRITTEN FOR US!!!

Jesus counters the three-pronged attack of the devil with the rebuttal of ages: IT IS WRITTEN. He had learned, he was applying. The same Spirit that led him into the wilderness had not gone on vacation to Hawaii. The Spirit brought up words from the ancient writings. The angels stood by and watched.

Remember from Daniel 10:12 how Angels will respond to you based on the words in your mouth and from Psalm 103:20 – [Bless the Lord, ye his angels, that excel in strength, that do his commandments, hearkening unto the voice of his word].

Jesus responded to the situations of life with the statement “It is written”. That was enough to resist the devil and muster angels to minister to him.

The word of God contains enough potency to frazzle the devil. The word of God from Genesis to Revelation is an unveiling of Christ to you. The word says you are accepted in the BELOVED. It is from this standpoint that you can quote scripture with authority.

Do you know who you are? No? DON’T WORRY – IT IS WRITTEN

=====================================

You can’t know if it is written if you have not read.

You can’t read and understand if the Holy Spirit is not your friend.

Will you receive the free gift of righteousness now?
