Disclaimer?: These are not song reviews. They are articles birthed from hours meditating on the spiritual and scriptural truths contained in Hillsong Tracks. You will listen to the same tracks and get a totally different interpretation but the beauty of it is that Christ is revealed. Click here to Enjoy other Tracks in the project…
There are two Hillsong tracks with this title. I chose the lesser known one sang by Hillsong London. Click here for the link to Darlene Zschech’s version. The post will be an hybrid of both songs.
Track 5: Above All (Hillsong London)
How blessed are those who dwell in your house. Whose lives become roads that you travel. They wind through the valleys to the light of the sun one day in this beautiful place to worship. Our God reigns Above all. Your house is our home, where our faces will shine in the light of the sun.
The blessedness of the Righteous is that they are forgiven. God’s might, love and justice to mankind is displayed in His act of sacrifice on the cross. The veil was torn, ripped to shreds and we were invited into the presence, to fellowship in El Hannora’s house. By the shedding of Blood, Love uncorked the bottle and the dispensation of the Spirit began.
Where the Blood of Jesus flows, the Holy Spirit goes – Mark Hankins
Where the blood of Jesus is exalted, the Spirit is manifested – Olaleye Femi
What is this dispensation?
It is the era of One-ness and At-One-ness with the Divine! The Spirit of CHRIST in you yells above the din of death and the dissonance of despair that you are God’s Eternal Beloved, that you are God’s own, God’s son/daughter.
Do you know that you are God’s house? No only are compelled by Love to dwell in His house, Love always says unto us – YOU ARE GOD’S RESIDENTIAL ADDRESS. The Almighty Himself tabernacles in your Spirit! such a wonderful testimony that the God who spoke reality into existence resides in mortal frame!!! Isn’t that why Paul says that we have a treasure in earthen vessels? Recall that even Peter also refers to believers somewhat paradoxically as “living stones” (1 Peter 2:5). We are members of the house, built up and established by the ministry of the Spirit (that constantly says we are SONS) and the Blood (that speaks DECIBELS of Grace greater than ABEL).
“For we are the temple of the living God”! – Apostle Paul
I can imagine the Roman sea breeze kissing Paul’s bald head (I dey play ooo … Please no bear!) as the old saint, all regal and commanding, points to his listeners with fire in his cornea and bellows out those words. With all the warts and worry etched on our foreheads, with faces fraught with fears and hearts unhinged by the tumult of life, we shudder at the thought! How can God dwell in bodies broken and battered by this earth?
is it not enough to say that God is our Father? but to now heap such arrant bullshit on us is unfair!!! how does the Infinite One fit into pint-sized humans? – Thomas Dickens
Our God reigns ABOVE ALL POWERS AND ABOVE ALL THRONES. Look at the design of the Mosaic tabernacle to the Temple of King of Solomon and you will realise that it is not unwarranted exaggeration when we say that God chose an absurd residence: ME. Think about! Who are we that He is mindful of us? Why does He concern Himself with the amount of hair on our head? I think about this and wonder! God is above all things chooses to travel with us every step of the way.
With all my freckles, faults and failings God chose to dwell in me? – Your thoughts right now
But the fact of the matter is this: He chose us! By the blood He shed on the mercy seat He says to us that we are chosen. The reality of the matter is that He is seated eternally and we are with Him. If Christ is above all then we also are above all.
God is/was a stickler for details. Look at the splendour depicted in scripture, look at the fact that the Almighty spared no cost in constructing the tabernacle and the temple… Now consider this: He did not spare His own son but gave Him up for you … He was crucified, laid in a borrowed tomb… They crushed him like a rose and yet He arose!!! and because He arose, we were grafted into His glory!!!!
It is a glory unfeigned
A fore-glow, a mere anticipatory flicker – the glory which once shined in the tent/tabernacle/temple of old, veiled in the mysterious cloud, was simply, a shadow, if you will, of that exceedingly excelling glory now embodied in the incarnate Word, Jesus Christ (Colossians 1:19).
God no longer lives in a tent or tabernacle built by human hands, nor will he ever. God’s glorious manifest presence is not to be found in an ornate temple of marble, gold, and precious stones, but rather in Jesus. Jesus is the glory of God in human flesh, the one in whom God has finally and fully pitched his tent.
Though we walk through the dark vale of death where all hope seems frayed and our hearts are fraught with fears we MUST come to the realization that God’s rod and staff are ever with us! Though our lives are besieged with evils on every side, and the fiery darts of the enemy fly haphazardly we MUST come to the knowledge and assurance that as we worship Him, we will see His hand move on our behalf.
Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree: That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith
IN CHRIST, WE WIN
