Track 6: Across the Earth
Across the earth Your praises rise. We lift our voice, call upon Your Name. You gave us hope that never ends
In Christ alone the victory remains for You are great and mighty. Let the nations sing. Your praise fills the heavens
For You have redeemed us. Our hope is in You alone. The cross has released us to sing of Your freedom
By grace You make all things new. We lift You high. You came to us to save our lives. The love of God was seen upon the cross
You rose again, the glory Yours. The highest praise belongs to You alone, Jesus.
Lord Your kingdom reigns above all, above all
Thy Kingdom come… All other kingdoms go. Thy will be established on the earth and in our hearts as it is in heaven!
And the seventh messenger did sound, and there came great voices in the heaven, saying, `The kingdoms of the world did become [those] of our Lord and of His Christ, and he shall reign to the ages of the ages!’
What is this kingdom you speak of? What king occupies the throne? Is it the one whose ornamental headdress is a bloodied crown of thorns and whose throne is a meagre cross hewn from a tree? The one whom children saluted with palm fronds and shouts of adulation and yet in the same week was screamed at by hecklers and took our place amidst two thieves. Is that the King whom you adore? the one who was adorned with the robe of mankind’s malady as the whip struck his back? the one whose hands were pierced by nails forged from the sins of humanity? the one whose royal edict was the cry of Forgiveness towards even those who mocked and despised him.
Is it this King who stooped low to wash the muddied soles of his disciples’ feet? The one who hung on the tree and for crimes he did not commit was condemned to death by those He came to save? YES THAT IS OUR KING!!! and We are HIS anointed ones. His anointing (The Spirit) is what endues us with power. Power so boundless and immense that even the demon horde run in fear when we realize WHO WE ARE. Jesus said to the disciples who no doubt had their faith frayed by his eminent departure to stay and wait for the arrival of the Holy Ghost. He assured that the Comforter would arrive with enough ammunition to re-arrange the terrain of humanity. He gave them (US) His word that He would never leave us nor forsake us.
The word “Christos” is Greek for ANOINTING. When the Holy Spirit comes alive in you, when His ministry is manifested in your reality you are anointed to do GOOD. Peter speaks of Jesus and the magnitude of his anointing. He exclaims loud enough for anyone to hear “even Jesus of Nazareth, how that God anointed him with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.” The anointing takes us above and beyond the level of losers. The anointing separates us from the rabble and riff-raff. We are not just “like” Jesus… we are not just men who have been with Him. We are IN Him and He is IN us. We are smeared entirely with the POWER of the HIGHEST!
HOW? It is by the BLOOD…
Paul writes to the church at Colosse and his words are laced with simplicity so much so that we can miss the awesome truths in them.
(12) Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light: (13) Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: (14) In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:
We are in the kingdom of his dear Son. We are in the Light. By reason of His blood we have redemption! we have the forgiveness of sins. This is a colossal truth that Paul ministers to the church at Colosse and indeed every church. Think on it!
The Inheritance of Light is equal to deliverance from the power of darkness is equal to TRANSLATION INTO THE DEAR SON’S KINGDOM is equal to BLOOD REDEMPTION is equal to FORGIVENESS OF SINS. Across the earth we must raise an anthem that we are in the kingdom! the kingdom of Christ is here. The kingdom of God’s anointed ones (Christ) is here! This kingdom does not spread by the blade or scimitar but by the blood and the Spirit. That is why the Spirit is described as FIRE! Fire spreads and illuminates! Fire is a contagious and irresistible force.
God rescued us from dead-end alleys and dark dungeons. He’s set us up in the kingdom of the Son he loves so much, the Son who got us out of the pit we were in, got rid of the sins we were doomed to keep repeating.
You don’t get? The moment Christ shed his blood on the mercy seat by sitting down once and for all, we sat with Him. The throne is not the cross for the persona of Christ and we are seated! We are in the Sabbath of our souls! The day of rest… We have by this same reason a blood-bought right to victory in every sphere. We are not subject to the whims and caprices of any government whether human or demonic. Across the earth this is what we praise God for! the fruit of our lips is thanksgiving for God’s glorious grace.
Do you know why we have HOPE? Because the Love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by this same Holy Spirit! We can sing everywhere and anywhere because God’s word never fails neither does it falter. Taking a line from @ezedaking‘s piece “Uju”
“I WOULD SELF DESTRUCT BEFORE MY ORACLES LIES, If you can believe, all things are possible boy! I am called Okeosisi because my words have NEVER FAILED and would never”! – The High Priest
So like little children excited over the return of our FATHER we jump and dance exuberantly! We lift hands made holy by the blood, we lift our voices and rejoice. We spin unfettered by worry or strife. We celebrate in spite of contradictions because we are the fulfilment of God’s dreams.
It is to this kingdom which never breaks that we are invited! what a great condescension by the Creator to call us His friends. From the towering highlands of the Himalayas to the marshy oil-rich delta of Bayelsa there is a call that resounds in the hearts of believers – it is the cry of the Spirit of Hope. While those that remain scorning at the cross point to us as naive saps… we realise that we are glorious ruins (treasures in jars of clay) restored by the touch of Christ’s Love. We are God’s sapphires, His precious gems. This is our Hope which is anchored to the Kingdom!
For God reigns!
IN CHRIST, WE WIN!!!
