Many made new year resolutions to become ‘closer’ to God.
Possibly, the excitement has worn off. But, how does one get closer to God? Many are looking for a list of 10 things; how many hours to study the Word, to pray, not smoking, etcetera. Unfortunately, it doesn’t work that way, because the things of God come not with observation – Luke 17:20.
In drawing closer to the Lord, it’s not about what you do, it’s really about recognizing what has been done for you by Jesus Christ. 2 Corinthians 5:20-21, ‘Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God. For he has made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.’
Here, we see that our ‘reconciliation’ to God is based on what he did through Christ!
Watchman Nee said, ‘Christianity begins with a big DONE, not a big DO’. The key is to thank God for what he has accomplished through Christ and live from there! How? By trusting his Grace! How? By discovering all he has done for you and accepting it as so. Then, you’d discover the inner workings of God’s Spirit propelling you in line with God’s will! #Pleroma
