All I Do

All I do is

to dance with my King upon the waters….

In His arms forever intertwined with the Spirit
Nestled up in a Love with no bars or limits
Reclined cozily under the shadows of His wings
You are washed by water from an ever flowing spring

He will never lead you where He won’t go
His Wisdom never takes you where His Grace doesn’t cover you
You can waltz on the waters today
This is what the Spirit of God says…

Track 15:

Faith causes you to walk dance upon the waters. He calls out to you, singling you out of many in the same boat. You are not the smartest. You are not the most politically correct one. You are not even that pretty. Yet He calls longingly to you. Asking you to step out and step forward. His eyes burn with a relentless desire for you, to hold you in his arms. No one else hears the song that the Spirit sings. No one else understands that deep calls unto deep.

Though they rage. Though they raise their infernal ranting. Though they bicker and bite. The waves hold no fear for the Faithful One. He stands seemingly oblivious to their hooting and howling. He pays no attention to their unholy hollering. The storms are puny puppies before Him. So he calls out to you. His feet is sturdy and steady. His voice surges and sways through the billows and boisterous winds and kisses your ear. You are drawn by an irresistible love. He calls your name…

You wonder. Why does He long to be with me? Who am I that you are mindful of me? It startles you that His voice is laden with affection for you. It is no ordinary love. No one else can love you like He does. You know this… Yet, you are petrified. What exactly have you done to warrant such an outrageous display of love? You check yourself; from your head adorned with bristles as a crown, to your feet laced with shame and misery. You are sorely imperfect. A rip-off… a shameless vagrant running away from home. Still He calls…

He says to you… words that strike not the drums of your ear but impinge on the tables of your heart

I have loved you with an everlasting Love.
Therefore there is now no condemnation for you for you are in me and I am in you. Mind-blowing isn’t it?
For the very essence of my Life and Love has set you free from the law of sin and of death.
Because dear child I am rich in mercy. So just chill… because this great outrageous love with which I love you makes you alive together with me.
Look within, I have raised you up with me.
YES! From the inside out, I have seated you with me on plush pillows in the heavenly places.
All that I am you have access to. This eternal Life doesn’t start when you die but now… now that you know me and acknowledge me. “

His arms are outstretched now. You can sense the gravitas of His glory. You are now confident of His Love. You dare to dream… you pump your chest and scream…I will do it” but as you try to get out of the boat, your companions shriek. They are appalled by your absurd actions. They berate you with arguments that stem from reason. They point to you the inanity of such a behavior. How will you say you want to walk on water? In fact are you not senile for claiming that you want to dance on the waves? Didn’t you study physics in school? Any substance with a density greater than water (1.0g/ml) will sink in water. You cannot fool us. Surely you are heavier than water. They nearly cloud your mind with doubt. They nearly snuff out your dream with their theories and principles.

But His Voice tears through the mist…

I am the [Eternal] God and I am in your midst.
I am a victorious warrior and today I will exult over you with joy.
I will be quiet in my LOVE and muse poetically concerning you.
I write a Lover’s song for you. I will dance on the seas over you.
I will rejoice over you with shouts of joy.

Love tears through the doubt. His voice calms the raging seas within and without. You turn your back to the accusers and though your face is still fraught with the freckles of fear, though you are still clad with the cloak of chaos, you step out of the boat…

to dance with your King on the waters….

You steady me – Slow and sweet, we sway
Take the lead and I will follow
Finally ready now – To close my eyes and just believe
That You won’t lead me Where You don’t go

When my faith gets tired and my hope seems lost
You spin me round and round and remind me of that song
The one You wrote for me
And we dance

And I’ve been told to pick up my sword and fight for love
Little did I know that Love had won for me
Here in Your arms

You still my heart again
And I breathe You in
Like I’ve never breathed ’till now

And we dance and I will lock eyes
With the One who’s ransomed me
The One who gave me joy for mourning
And I will lock eyes
With the One who’s chosen me
The One who set my feet to dancing?

We dance
Just You and me

Footnote: Welcome back to SONGS FROM THE HILL. It has been a while… This particular piece was written between 8am and 9am today (25th of June 2014). It is the product of listening to Bethel Music’s We dance and Hillsong’s All I do…You may listen to the same tracks and get totally different interpretations but the beauty of it is that Christ is revealed. Petroleum engineer? Yup. But I love writing as much as I love solving complex reservoir engineering problems. Watch out for poetry. Still trying to soar the heights of prose tho' Stay tuned dearies.

  1. When I started reading this, I was reminded of the lyrics of “Oceans (Where Feet May Fail), but I realised the message here isn’t exactly the same though they both point to Jesus Christ. I wondered the same this morning too, why does Jesus love me so? Read a verse that says God is kind to the ungrateful and wicked, and then I realised it wasn’t about me at all, it’s all about Him. He is who He is, He is Love! And he has called me to dance with him upon the waters of Love, a romance that beats human imagination. Thank you for this beautiful poetic piece
